Residents of an Edinburgh flat block have been urged to leave immediately due to fire safety concerns, months after a previous blaze at the same building.
- Fire safety investigations at the Bonnington Bond building have identified combustible cladding and insulation, along with internal fire-stopping issues and non-compliant lifts.
- Persimmon Homes said remediation works would be carried out but residents could not remain during the process and were being relocated to emergency temporary accommodation.
- Persimmon stated it "strongly recommended" immediate relocation and offered hotels or serviced apartments, warning residents could not bring furniture or large items.
- A March 2024 fire at the same building injured two firefighters and left several flats uninhabitable, with a council report later confirming multiple safety deficiencies.
