Wafd Party opens candidate applications for High Authority elections

Egypt's Wafd Party has begun receiving candidacy applications for elections to its High Authority and Wafd Authority Secretariat, set for October 30.

• Applications opened Saturday under decisions No. 259 and 260 issued by party chairman El-Sayed El-Badawi Shehata.
• The Central Organization Committee, chaired by Secretary-General Yasser El-Hodeiby, will accept applications through October 15.
• The October 30 elections will select 50 High Authority members and 5 Wafd Authority Secretariat members.
• The party will announce the final candidate list on October 18 after adjudicating appeals on October 16–17.
