Myanmar's military has released rare photos of detained former leader Aung San Suu Kyi receiving gardening books and a sealed letter from King Charles.
- A presidential spokesperson said home ministry officials delivered two gardening books, a sealed envelope and a diplomatic pouch from King Charles.
- The books were identified as Soil to Table by gardeners Bridget Elworthy and Henrietta Courtauld and Soil: The World at Our Feet.
- The photographs, released Monday, show the 81-year-old Nobel laureate smiling in a wood-panelled room across from two officials.
- Kim Aris, Suu Kyi's London-based son, said the military must not exploit the delivery to "create an illusion of normality or gain international legitimacy."
- Monday's delivery marked the first publicized images of Suu Kyi in two months, the junta said.
- The government referred to Suu Kyi as a 'special female prisoner' for the first time.
