Egypt's meteorological authority has issued a forecast of thundery rain, wind, and lower temperatures across parts of the country as the autumn season begins.
- The Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecast light-to-moderate rain, occasionally thundery, on parts of the northern coasts, northern Lower Egypt, and the Western Desert on Sunday, October 4.
- The authority warned of morning fog from 4 to 8 a.m. on roads to and from northern Egypt and urged drivers to exercise caution.
- Forecaster Manar Ghanem said a low-pressure system with autumn's onset lowered temperatures and would keep rain chances through the end of the week.
- Ghanem advised wearing two layers instead of one in the early morning, saying summer clothing is insufficient as night temperatures fall near 19 degrees.
- The authority said Sunday's maximum temperatures will range from about 26°C on the coasts to 37°C in southern Upper Egypt.
- It said winds of up to 40 km/h could stir dust in the south and New Valley governorate.
- The Meteorological Authority warned that daily temperature swings exceeding 13 degrees in some areas could cause colds, especially among the elderly and children.
