Syria has started transiting imported gasoline for Iraq through Baniyas port under a three-month renewable agreement.
- Deputy executive vice president Ahmad Qubba Ji said operations began with a first batch of 57 tankers.
- Qubba Ji said capacity will rise to about 200 tankers daily through the Al-Tanf crossing.
- Qubba Ji said Qatari company UCC purchases the gasoline from global sources while Syrian parties transport it for transit fees.
- Syrian officials said Damascus and Baghdad signed a memorandum of understanding on the Kirkuk-Baniyas pipeline, with talks in final stages toward a contract.
- The deliveries follow Strait of Hormuz shipping disruptions from the Middle East war, which pushed Iraq to truck its oil exports through Syria since early April.
