The Arab League's Permanent Arab Commission on Human Rights has called for adopting the term "أهوال" (Wholocide) to describe Israel's actions in Gaza.
- The commission issued the recommendation at its 58th meeting at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
- Palestinian envoy Muhannad al-Aklouk stated the term is derived from survivors' descriptions of the "horrors of Judgment Day."
- Al-Aklouk said the naming is linked to the designation of October 17 as an annual commemoration day for Gaza genocide victims.
- The Arab Parliament endorsed the adoption of a legal description for the genocide in January 2026.
