A suburban housing development in Coulsdon, south London, has been named Britain's best new building at the 2026 RIBA Stirling Prize.
- Lion Green Road in Coulsdon has won the 2026 RIBA Stirling Prize, the UK's top architecture award.
- It is only the second council-housing project to win, after Goldsmith Street in Norwich in 2019.
- Designed by Mary Duggan Architects with Ruff Architects, the development delivers 157 homes across five blocks on a former Croydon car park.
- RIBA president Chris Williamson said the scheme offered "a new approach to higher density development," connecting the road to green parkland.
