The US House of Representatives has voted to make daylight saving time permanent by passing the Sunshine Protection Act on Tuesday.
- The House voted 308-117 to pass the bill, which would remove the need for Americans to change their clocks twice a year.
- Republican Representative Scott DesJarlais, presiding over the vote, played The Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" during the final count.
- Representative Vern Buchanan of Florida, who introduced the bill in January 2025, said that clock changes disrupt schedules "for no good reason."
- President Donald Trump stated in a May social media post that he would work to pass a law on time changes.
