US officials say Gulf oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz have returned to pre-war levels, while ship-tracking data shows volumes still trail those levels.
- Energy Secretary Chris Wright said about 18 million barrels flowed from the Gulf on Tuesday, matching pre-war daily volumes.
- An AFP analysis of Kepler and Lloyd's data showed average flows of about 8 million barrels a day in early September, exceeding 14 million on September 7 alone.
- Kepler recorded only four commodity ships crossing the strait on Monday, compared with ten the previous day and about 125 before the war.
- US Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins said US forces had secured over 900 million barrels and completed mine removal in the strait, and that Iran does not control it.
- Hawkins said US forces had redirected over 100 ships violating the blockade and defended strikes on the Iranian city of Kuhestak as compliant with the laws of armed conflict.
