Delivery riders in several Italian cities are striking Wednesday, demanding measures to protect their wages and health during extreme summer heat.
- Milan authorities have limited bicycle-based deliveries between 12:30 and 16:00 until 23 September, requiring water supplies, breaks, and refreshment areas on critical days.
- Union spokesman Andrea Bacchin said delivery riders need solutions from companies and the prefect that "protect their health without forcing them to lose wages."
- Riders in Bologna will switch off their apps and demonstrate, while Florence will see a stoppage during a week with temperatures forecast to reach 40C.
- Unions are scheduled to discuss social safety nets for riders with labour ministry officials in Rome on Thursday.
