UK backs Zelensky after Trump calls for his replacement

Britain's defence secretary has backed Volodymyr Zelensky after Donald Trump called for a new Ukrainian leader over a US-Russia diesel purchase.

• Streeting said the UK stands with Ukraine and Zelensky, and that only Ukrainians should decide who leads their country.
• Trump said Ukraine needs a new leader able to reach a peace deal, blaming Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries for rising US diesel prices.
• Zelensky called the diesel agreement a "gift to Putin," warning increased Russian energy revenue would fund the war against Ukraine.
• Streeting said the UK does not support the US purchase of millions of tonnes of diesel from Russia.
