German police have launched an investigation into a possible sexual assault after a robot allegedly groped a 16-year-old girl in the city of Cologne.
- Police said the robot, 1.20 meters tall, approached the girl from behind outside a fast-food restaurant between 11:45 p.m. and midnight.
- Police in Cologne said the robot's 16-year-old owner and his 19-year-old companion filmed and live-streamed the alleged attack on social media.
- Police seized the robot from a vehicle's trunk and confiscated the two suspects' mobile phones.
- Cologne police spokesperson Christoph Bermel said investigators are examining whether the robot's movements were pre-programmed or directly controlled.
