Renewed Houthi encirclement campaign tightens siege on Taiz as viral reinforcement videos are debunked

Houthi forces have escalated their campaign to encircle Taiz in southwest Yemen, renewing the city's siege and worsening its humanitarian crisis.

• Houthi forces have advanced around Taiz, engaging government troops in districts south and west of the city as they push to encircle it.
• Government military sources said forces are fighting in Sabir Al-Mawadam and Wadi Al-Dhabab to prevent Houthi advances toward strategic sites and city entrances.
• Al Jazeera's open-source unit verified that viral videos claiming reinforcements reached Taiz were old Libyan footage of a military exercise, unrelated to Yemen.
• Yemen's Health Ministry warned that medicines, IV solutions, medical supplies and fuel in health facilities are nearly depleted, threatening emergency and surgery services.
