(opens the publisher’s site)The United Kingdom announced Tuesday it will deploy Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jets to Saudi Arabia on defensive missions against Houthi attacks.
- Defense Secretary Wes Streeting said the Typhoons will conduct defensive air operations and will not launch offensive strikes against the Houthis.
- The deployment includes an A400M Atlas transport aircraft, military advisors, and a 90-day extension of a Voyager aerial refueling aircraft.
- The Houthis began their assault on Saudi Arabia in September; a missile killed 13 people at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport this month.
