- Wahbi named the squad for the September 2026 camp, which includes 2026 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Gabon and Lesotho.
- The list omits Moroccan players from the Egyptian league: Zamalek's Mahmoud Bentaig, Al Ahly's Ashraf bin Sharqi, Youssef Belamri and Soufiane bin Jadda, and Pyramids' Mohamed El-Sheby.
- Goalkeepers selected are Yassine Bounou, Munir Al-Mohammadi, Reda Tagnaouti and Ala Belarouch, with defenders including Achraf Hakimi.
- Wahbi said there is no conflict with Sofyan Amrabat over his suspended international career, adding past contributions earn respect but not a guaranteed place.
- Wahbi defended Abde Ezzalzouli after the player wore a shirt supporting Spanish control over Ceuta, urging support for players and keeping sports apart from politics.
