Apu returns to The Simpsons with new voice actor Sunil Malhotra after eight-year hiatus

The Simpsons has brought back Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, voiced by actor Sunil Malhotra, in Sunday's episode after the character went silent in 2017.

• Malhotra made his debut as Apu in Sunday's episode "The Revengening," after the character had been silent since October 2017.
• Malhotra said bringing Apu back "feels like a reclamation" and described it as the character's homecoming.
• The producers kept the debut secret, withholding advance screeners from reviewers and requiring non-disclosure agreements at the table read.
• Apu's wife Manjula will now be voiced by Janina Gavankar, who replaces Jan Hooks and Tress MacNeille.
