Jamaica has received its first flight of third-country deportees from the United States under a bilateral agreement signed in June.
- Twenty-two deportees, all Belizean citizens including seven women, arrived at Norman Manley International Airport and were taken to an undisclosed location.
- Jamaica's government said the scheme is a transit arrangement funded by the International Organization for Migration, not by Jamaican taxpayers.
- Jamaica has pledged not to accept any deportees with criminal records.
- Opposition legislators questioned the undisclosed deal, while Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson Smith said the US has not agreed to make it public.
