Al Ahly rules out immediate signing of new defender after Amr El-Gazar's ACL injury

Al Ahly has decided against signing a replacement defender before January after confirming Amr El-Gazar's ACL tear, keeping defensive reinforcements for the winter window.

• Al Ahly confirmed El-Gazar suffered an ACL tear and internal cartilage damage, and began procedures to schedule his surgery.
• Sayed Abdel-Hafiz and scouting chief Ahmed Abu Muslim met Thursday to discuss a free-agent defender, with Abu Muslim proposing former Pyramids defender Ali Gabr.
• Coach Hussein Ammouta said the squad has enough center-backs, citing Ahmad Reda and Mohamed Hany as cover, closing the immediate signing file.
• A club source said Al Ahly Bank's Mahmoud El-Gazar is a January candidate but faces club reservations, while no contact was made with Hossam Abdel-Magid or Omar Fayed.
