Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Melvine Malard from Manchester United for a fee that would be a club-record sale.

• The transfer fee is understood to be approximately £850,000, with some sources suggesting £750,000.
• Malard, who has one year remaining on her contract, rejected a new deal from United.
• The 26-year-old France forward previously played under Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor at Lyon.
