(opens the publisher’s site)Egypt's industry, agriculture, and higher education ministers met with the Future of Egypt Authority to discuss an integrated model for flax cultivation and processing.
- Industry Minister Khaled Hashem convened the meeting with Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk, Higher Education Minister Abdel Aziz Qansuwa, and Future of Egypt Authority head Bahaa El-Ghannam.
- Assistant Industry Minister Maha Saleh presented a study of the flax value chain, covering seeds, cultivation, fiber extraction, spinning, weaving, manufacturing, and export.
- Hashem said the meeting launches an executive plan to develop the Shubra Malis flax cluster, create a new cultivation model in the New Delta project, and upgrade the Tanta Flax Company.
- Farouk said the Agricultural Research Center will supply high-yield flax varieties and expand contract farming to secure markets for farmers.
