A coordinated investigation by 24 media outlets has revealed the Trump administration deported more than 25,000 migrants to third countries they have no connection with.
- The US has deported about 20,000 people to Mexico and more than 5,000 to countries across Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and central Asia.
- The administration pledged at least $410m for agreements with 35 countries, including $30m to Cameroon for receiving 1,000 migrants.
- The policy runs from a new Office of Remigration, led by State Department official Christian Ehrhardt under White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller.
- A federal appeals court ruled Friday that the third-country removals are unlawful, but Department of Homeland Security general counsel James Percival said the policy continues.
