A 14-year-old student has been arrested after shooting two staff members with a hunting rifle hidden in a guitar case at a middle school in southern France.
- French police arrested the 14-year-old Monday for shooting a principal and a teacher at Lakanal middle school in Aubagne, near Marseille.
- Both victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries to the lower limbs; a school staff member disarmed the student before police took him into custody.
- Marseille prosecutors opened an investigation on suspicion of attempted murder with premeditation, and have said the motives remain unclear.
- Education Minister Edouard Geffray said two staff members, a principal and a teacher, were victims of gunshot wounds and that a student is the suspected perpetrator.
- The hunting rifle fired 12-gauge shotgun ammunition, wounding both staff members in the legs, police said.
- Police said a third person was also grazed during the shooting at the school in Aubagne.
