Revamped Cricket World Cup format could add India-Pakistan match

The International Cricket Council has announced a restructured 14-team format for the 2027 men's ODI World Cup, potentially including an extra India-Pakistan fixture.

• The ICC revealed on Wednesday that the 2027 tournament will begin with a preliminary round for the three lowest-ranked qualifiers, with one advancing to a 12-team main group stage.
• The main stage will feature two pools of six teams, followed by a "Super Seven" round-robin phase, replacing the previous Super Six and eliminating quarterfinals.
• The ICC stated that the new format aims to provide "greater context, competitiveness and consequence" during the event.
• The ICC also approved a $12.82m loan to Cricket West Indies to support the member board.
