Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell to its lowest level in over two months following an escalation of attacks on tankers.
- Kepler data showed seven cargo ships crossed the strait on Tuesday, the lowest count since July 23, before rising to ten on Wednesday.
- Kepler analysts said crude volumes transiting the strait fell 27 percent to at least 10.1 million barrels daily, 74 percent of pre-war levels.
- Exports from Gulf of Oman and Red Sea coasts rose to 6.7 million barrels per day, more than double pre-war levels, offsetting the decline.
- UK Maritime Trade Operations said projectiles struck a tanker 51 nautical miles north of Qatari Al-Shamal, with reports of injuries.
- Tanker captains are being offered salaries of up to $100,000 plus $50,000 per-trip bonuses to transit the strait.
- Sailors, many from India, the Philippines and China, risk the voyage with lights and transponders off.
