Lorde calls AI glasses "not sexy" during Mad Cool Festival set

Pop star Lorde publicly criticized AI glasses as a privacy risk and style failure while performing at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid.
- Lorde told the audience, “You don’t know if someone is wearing sunglasses, or if they’re wearing those f–ed up, f–ing [AI glasses]. Don’t get the glasses. Not sexy.”
- Lorde performed immediately before singer Jennie, a brand ambassador for Ray‑Ban Meta’s smart glasses line, which also sponsored the festival.
- EssilorLuxottica, the Ray‑Ban maker, said it sold more than 7 million Meta AI glasses in 2025, more than triple the combined sales of 2023 and 2024.
