Kempton Park's future debated in parliament as housing development threatens historic racecourse

Members of Parliament will discuss the future of Kempton Park racecourse following a 2018 option agreement that could lead to homebuilding on the site.

• MPs will debate the future of Kempton Park in Westminster Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
• Lincoln Jopp, the Conservative MP for Spelthorne, said he had been informed that a planning application for over 2,000 homes was imminent.
• Barratt Redrow denied any imminent application, insisting that no application will be submitted this year.
• The Jockey Club confirmed that a 10-year option agreement, signed with Redrow in 2018 and disclosed in December 2025, gives the housebuilder the right to purchase the site if planning consent is achieved.
