Arsenal has announced redundancies affecting up to 60 non-football staff, a week after manager Mikel Arteta signed a new four-year contract.
- Arsenal chief executive Richard Garlick informed staff this week that the workforce will be cut by up to 60 positions, about seven per cent of the club's 871 permanent staff.
- The redundancies target off-the-field roles, sparing coaching and performance teams, the academy, Arsenal Women, the Arsenal Foundation, community work and security staff.
- Arteta said the decision was explained to him as needed to keep improving and investing to achieve success, and that he was not the right person to answer questions.
- The cuts came a week after Arteta signed a contract reported to include an increase on his £10m-a-year salary plus £5m in bonuses.
- Arsenal reported record revenues of £691 million for the 2024-2025 financial year ahead of the proposed cuts.
