Number of UK never-smokers who vape tops one million

ONS figures show 1.1 million people who never smoked vaped in 2025, as smoking fell to its lowest recorded level.
- ONS data showed 1.1 million people in Great Britain who never smoked vaped daily or occasionally in 2025, up from 940,000 in 2024.
- Vaping among 25-34-year-olds reached 16.4% in 2025, overtaking 16-24-year-olds as the most common vaping age group.
- Smoking fell to 4.9 million UK adults (9.8%), the lowest proportion on record, down from 10.6% in 2024.
- ONS's David Mais said vapers were getting older, possibly reflecting existing users aging or growing popularity among that group.
