Four-time champion Max Verstappen has said the Circuit of the Americas track surface is "unacceptable," citing risks of long-term spinal damage.
- Verstappen said the Austin track's bumps are "out of control," reporting impacts of over 9G vertical load on his spine while cornering last year.
- He said grinding has only "put a plaster on the big problem" and dismissed soil conditions as an excuse for not fully repaving the circuit.
- Norris backed his rival, saying the bumps are so severe he needs headache tablets before sessions to counter head impacts.
- Russell said the bumps are "part of racing" but suggested F1 tracks should be repaved every couple of years.
