Recent satellite imagery shows Iran has erected earth barriers at the entrances of its Mount Axe tunnel complex near Natanz and continues fortifying it.
- Imagery from September 11, 2026 shows continued concrete fortification and construction activity at the entrances of the Mount Axe complex south of the Natanz enrichment facility.
- The Institute for Science and International Security said Iran placed earth barriers at the western tunnel entrances in late July and early August 2026, with the barriers visible through September 11.
- The institute assessed that, with barriers at both western entrances, all four entrances to the complex no longer permit vehicle passage.
- Trump said on September 9 that the United States observed "some activity" at the site and threatened to strike it.
