Egyptian Court Adjourns Trial of Eight Suspected ISIS Cell Members

Cairo's Terrorism Circuit Court has postponed the trial of eight defendants accused of forming an ISIS-affiliated cell in the Nasr City district.

• The Second Circuit for Terrorism, sitting in Badr, adjourned the case to October 13 to hear witness testimony.
• The indictment charges the lead defendant with leading a group that adopted ISIS ideology, established in violation of Egyptian law, from 2019 until October 26, 2023.
• Charges against defendants two through seven include joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its objectives.
• The lead defendant and an eighth defendant are charged with terrorist financing by providing files to indoctrinate the group and venues for organizational meetings.
