Two Iranian men have been charged with preparing an act of terrorism over an alleged plot to bomb a Manchester synagogue where two people were killed last year.
- Rahman Salehi, 34, and Salam Ahmadyan, 36, appeared at Westminster magistrates court on Saturday charged with preparing to commit an act of terrorism.
- Prosecutors allege the pair carried out "hostile reconnaissance" of Manchester's Jewish community, targeting the Jewish Museum and Heaton Park synagogue.
- The court heard the men were directed by a third party believed to be an Iranian national operating from Iran, who sent instructions for making a homemade explosive device.
- The pair were remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 23 October.
