French finance minister Roland Lescure has invited Britain to rejoin the EU after Prime Minister Andy Burnham raised a possible second Brexit referendum.
- Lescure told the BBC that Britain could return "anytime," saying rejoining would put the UK "at the table" for EU negotiations.
- Burnham said last week the options include keeping current arrangements, seeking a customs union, returning to the single market, or full membership.
- Burnham has travelled to Germany for talks with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, where a cyber-security cooperation deal is expected.
- Burnham warned that planned EU rules favouring European manufacturers would damage British industry and supply chains.
- During a Berlin visit, Burnham said the UK is open to Germany joining the GCAP sixth-generation fighter programme with Italy and Japan.
