Hawaii's roughly 550-year-old Hōlei Sea Arch collapsed into the Pacific during Tropical Storm Nolo, the National Park Service confirmed.
- The arch was still standing when the park closed on 23 September, but had collapsed by 27 September.
- The 90ft landmark had shown instability since earthquakes from the 2018 Kīlauea eruption damaged its cliffs.
- The park closed the original viewing area in January 2020 after new cracks appeared in the cliffs.
- Nolo was the third major storm to hit Hawaii in recent months, after hurricanes Lala and Lowell.
