A medical team at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital has implanted a pulmonary valve via catheter in a 13-year-old Palestinian boy with three prior heart surgeries.
- Doctors performed the five-to-seven-hour implant using ECMO circulatory support, weaning the boy from the ventilator within 24 hours.
- Danish Ambassador Lars Bo Møller announced Denmark extended the partnership to December 2027 with an additional $1.5 million, after $3.1 million in initial contributions.
- Møller said more than 18,500 patients in Gaza need urgent medical care, and Egypt has received 9,000 medically evacuated patients.
- WHO Egypt representative Naima Said Abed said the procedure carried a 25% success chance and cost about $50,000, funded by Denmark.
