A foul ball off teammate Michael Busch's bat struck Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman in the face during Sunday's 9-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
- Bregman was struck in the face in the fourth inning and taken to hospital for X-rays and CT scans after being escorted to the clubhouse with blood visible.
- Manager Craig Counsell said Bregman was hit in the left cheekbone under the eye, was bleeding from the nose, and has swelling.
- No decision was made on whether Bregman would travel back to Chicago with the team after the game.
- Busch, whose checked swing produced the foul, called the incident scary and said he hopes Bregman is OK.
