Calallen football players donate space heaters to veterans in need

Calallen Wildcats football players have donated 15 space heaters to a veteran in need through a campaign launched last week.

• David Salinas Jr. of the United Veterans Burial Association started the Heaters for Heroes drive after learning a veteran's heater was broken, involving his son and another player.
• Fifteen space heaters have been delivered to one veteran; freshman player Drayson Gamez also donated heaters on Thursday evening.
• Salinas Jr. said the fundraiser has no end date and will continue as long as cold weather persists, then shift to providing fans during the hot season.
