Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, closing Egypt Forum 2026, said infrastructure development averted power outages, a housing deficit, and major economic losses.
- The forum ran October 19–24 in the New Administrative Capital, with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi attending.
- Madbouly said failure to expand electricity generation would have sustained power cuts affecting economic and service activity.
- Madbouly said the housing deficit would have reached 5 million units without housing and urban expansion projects.
- Madbouly said the road network grew from 23,000 km of deteriorated roads to 31,000 km, including 7,500 km of new roads.
- Madbouly said the state doubled Egypt's inhabited area from 7 to 14 percent of its total territory through projects nationwide.
- He said only 22 new cities were built since the late 1970s, while 31 exist today and 39 are complete or under construction.
- Madbouly said residential units connected to natural gas rose to 16.2 million from 6.2 million before 2014, an increase of 10 million units.
- Madbouly recounted a visit to Asmarat, where a child who moved from a shack in Sharabiya said he slept on a bed for the first time.
- Madbouly said that if President el-Sisi had done nothing else but rescue these citizens, it would suffice.
- Madbouly said development extended beyond Asmarat to historical areas including Sayyida Zeinab, Sayyida Aisha, Sayyida Nafisa, and the Imam al-Hussein mosque area.
