- Vinicius received a direct red card in the 71st minute for pulling Nathan Saliba's hair during Real Madrid's 1-0 home win over Villarreal.
- Spanish outlets reported Vinicius pushed a La Liga official while leaving the pitch, potentially an additional offense ahead of the October 25 Clásico.
- Vinicius apologized to his teammates, saying he did not intend to hurt Saliba and that the pull came in a moment of anger.
- Real Madrid announced it will appeal the red card, while referee Díaz de Mera recorded Vinicius's protest as "aggressive behavior."
- Former Barcelona player Gerard Lopez called Vinicius's hair-pull “ugly, dirty, and treacherous” in the Villarreal win.
- Former Real Madrid figure Jorge Valdano described the gesture as instinctive rather than deliberate.
