Thousands of Colombians have protested against President Abelardo de la Espriella, days after his government opened an embassy in Jerusalem and restored ties with Israel.
- Colombia opened its embassy in Jerusalem on Wednesday, becoming the 10th country to do so, with Foreign Ministers Omar Bola and Gideon Saar in attendance.
- Thousands marched in Bogotá, Barranquilla, and Cali in the first protests against de la Espriella's government, called by former president Gustavo Petro's opposition.
- De la Espriella issued a decree Tuesday easing restrictions on security forces' use of force during protests.
- Hamas condemned the embassy opening as a violation of international law and called on Colombia to retract the decision.
