Football Association chair Debbie Hewitt has written to FIFA president Gianni Infantino demanding the release of all documents on the scrapped World Cup sell-off plan and the overturning of Folarin Balogun's ban.
- Hewitt, also a FIFA vice-president, demanded full transparency before the 15 October FIFA Council meeting and called for an independent review of how the FIFA Forward Enterprise plan was conceived.
- The FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal would have sold 21% of a new commercial and ticketing rights company to a private investment firm before it was scrapped after widespread opposition.
- Balogun's one-match World Cup suspension was set aside for a year without public reasoning; US President Donald Trump confirmed he had asked Infantino to review the ban.
- UEFA began preparing criminal legal proceedings against Infantino in three US courts last month over the plan, and FIFA accused UEFA of running a smear campaign.
- Greece withdrew its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino ahead of the 2027 FIFA presidential election.
