Egypt's Health Ministry has declared all governorates ready for a national measles and rubella vaccination campaign starting Sunday, October 25, 2026, lasting three weeks.
- The ministry said the campaign targets children aged nine months to 10 years, available to Egyptians and non-Egyptians without discrimination.
- Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said a preparatory meeting reviewed implementation plans, vaccine availability, and the readiness of vaccination and supervision teams.
- Giza Governor Ahmed Al-Ansari announced the campaign aims to vaccinate about 1,946,502 children in the governorate through 1,320 vaccination teams.
- Al-Ansari directed district heads and the education directorate to support the teams and urged parents to ensure eligible children receive the vaccine.
- The ministry said free shots are available at health units, mobile teams, and schools, and set up hotline 105 for inquiries.
- The ministry warned that measles outbreaks begin with a single case and spread quickly, urging parents not to delay vaccination.
