Mattie Music Group, administrator of Bill Withers' catalogue, has sued over Olivia Dean's I've Seen It, alleging it copies the 1981 Just the Two of Us.
- Mattie Music Group filed the copyright lawsuit on Thursday, alleging I've Seen It copied "substantial" aspects of Just the Two of Us.
- The lawsuit names Dean's label Capitol Records and publishers Sony Music Publishing and Kobalt as defendants, but not Dean or her co-writers.
- Mattie said its hired musicologist Alexander Stewart concluded the works "contain substantial similarities in protectable musical expression."
- Mattie said it notified the defendants of the alleged infringement on 17 August, but they continued distributing I've Seen It.
