- Rodri said he apologised to Valencia captain José Gayà and the entire squad for the remark, made while on the bench during Barcelona's 5-0 defeat of Valencia on Sunday.
- Broadcaster Movistar claimed to have lip-read the comment, which drew criticism from Valencia fans and Spanish media accusing Rodri of disrespecting the opponent.
- Speaking after Barcelona's 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord on Wednesday, Rodri said the remark was an expression of surprise and that he never intended disrespect or mockery.
