European football associations have asked Uefa to lobby Fifa to abandon the three-week international break that bundles four Nations League matches into one window.
- At a Uefa meeting in Berlin on Thursday, one FA president described the new international break as "a disaster."
- The break merges the former September and October windows into one spell of four Nations League games played within 11 days.
- Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak were among players injured during the window.
- Uefa said it will collect federations' views and consider a proposal to Fifa, although the international calendar is fixed until 2030.
- Criticism of the extended break also focused on the pressure it puts on smaller federations' coaches and resources.
- FIFA defended the longer window, saying it enables regional tournaments such as the Arabian Gulf Cup in Saudi Arabia.
