Greggs has announced plans to close four UK factories and cut 740 jobs over the next two and a half years.
- Greggs said it would close sites in Cumbria, Scotland, County Durham and Greater London, with distribution continuing from Enfield.
- The company said the closures would cost £60m initially but deliver about £20m in annual savings by 2028.
- Greggs said it would begin consultations with trade unions, adding that its immediate priority was to minimise the impact on affected staff.
- Greggs reported third-quarter sales growth of 7.7%, up from 7.2% in the first half of the year.
