Iran says GCC foreign ministers and Iraq will meet Monday in Salalah, Oman to discuss new Strait of Hormuz maritime routes, as Bahrain announced a boycott.
- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the agenda focuses on the new maritime route in the Strait of Hormuz, and that the understanding with Oman does not signal the strait will reopen.
- Araghchi said Tehran's condition for reopening the strait is the US honouring commitments under the June Islamabad memorandum of understanding, whose implementation stalled in July.
- Bahrain's Foreign Ministry announced it will not participate in any collective meeting that includes Iran before the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said regional security must be guaranteed by the region's states themselves without foreign intervention.
