Spanish police have begun moving migrants camped on Ceuta's beaches to a new tented site in the port of the North African Spanish territory.
- Police transferred more than 3,000 migrants from beach camps to a new 1,700-capacity tented site in Ceuta's port on Friday morning.
- Crowds jostling to secure places broke through the police cordon along the 2 km route, and shots were heard during the operation.
- Digital Transformation Minister Óscar López said the operation represents "a milestone step" that will let authorities process migrants' files faster.
- The relocation follows July's influx of about 72,000 migrants from Morocco, over 13,000 of whom are believed to remain in the enclave.
