Egypt's General Authority of Meteorology warned Wednesday that dust from eastern Libya is moving into western regions, reducing horizontal visibility.
- The authority said satellite images show wind activity raising sand and dust over Matrouh's desert and the northwestern coasts.
- It forecast dust from eastern Libya spreading to Salloum and Matrouh over the coming hours, accompanied by deteriorating visibility.
- The authority urged vehicle drivers to exercise caution and advised patients with sinus and chest allergies to wear masks outdoors.
- Satellite images also show low and medium clouds over the far west of the country, bringing possible light to moderate rain.
- The authority said the strong winds and blowing dust could extend to Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, and the canal cities.
- In its Thursday forecast, the authority expected light to moderate rain on northern coasts and parts of the Nile Delta with a 30–40% chance.
- The forecast also anticipated light rain in Halayeb and Shalateen and weak scattered showers in some areas.
- The authority warned that winds may stir sand and dust and disrupt maritime navigation on parts of the Mediterranean coast.
